On World Energy Efficiency Day, 5 March 2026, the Energy Transition Research Center EnTReC of the Technical University of Cluj‑Napoca (TUCN) organised the third edition of the event “Sustainability and Energy Efficiency”, hosted at the Faculty of Materials and Environmental Engineering.

The event aimed to create an open dialogue platform to share institutional experiences and research results in the field of energy transition, identify new collaboration opportunities between academia and the socio‑economic environment, and support the implementation of concrete actions targeting energy efficiency and decarbonisation. Participants included representatives from academia, the public and private sectors, and other interested organisations.

The discussions were framed within the broader context of the European Union’s objective to achieve climate neutrality by 2050, a goal strongly driven by research and innovation and at the core of Horizon Europe projects. In this context, the EVELIXIA project was presented as a concrete example of innovative solutions supporting the energy transition. The project’s progress and results served as a valuable starting point for exchanges on future pathways toward more efficient and resilient energy systems.

During the event, EVELIXIA partners TUCN, DEER (Distribuție Energie Electrică Romania), and TN (Termoficare Napoca) actively contributed to dissemination activities. They shared key findings and practical insights with the audience, fostering cross‑sector collaboration and encouraging the identification of actionable solutions for improving energy efficiency.

Participants were also informed about the status of the Romanian EVELIXIA pilot site, whose main infrastructure is now fully operational. At this stage, data collection and processing activities are ongoing, with the objective of demonstrating the real‑world effectiveness and impact of the solutions developed within the EVELIXIA framework.

The event once again confirmed the importance of collaborative platforms in accelerating the deployment of innovative, research‑driven solutions for a sustainable and energy‑efficient future.
