Bringing research closer to industry is essential to turn innovative energy solutions into technologies that can make a difference in real-world applications. This connection was at the heart of Promelek Partners Day 2026 in Cluj-Napoca, where representatives from across the electrical sector came together to exchange experiences, challenges and perspectives.

The event gathered manufacturers, distributors, integrators, installers, designers, builders and architects, while also opening the discussion to the academic community. Representing the Energy Transition Research Center (EnTReC) at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (TUCN), Prof. Dan Micu delivered the keynote “The Electrical Industry in Transformation – Challenges and Opportunities.”

The presentation provided an opportunity to introduce the research projects developed by the TUCN team, including EVELIXIA, and to share concrete examples of the technologies being tested at the project’s Cluj-Napoca pilot.

Among them, Prof. Micu presented the GeoWall, which uses the ground for heating and cooling, building-integrated photovoltaic systems, and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology, enabling electric vehicles not only to charge but also to feed energy back into the grid.

The event also reflected the strong connection between education, research and the local electrical industry. Many of the professionals attending were former students of Prof. Micu, now working as engineers and leaders in electrical companies across Cluj-Napoca. Meeting again in a professional setting highlighted how relationships built at university can evolve into valuable collaboration between academia and industry.

Prof. Micu also joined a panel discussion on the future of the electrical sector, contributing the academic perspective to the exchange with industry representatives.

By bringing EVELIXIA’s pilot activities directly to professionals working across the electrical value chain, Promelek Partners Day offered a valuable opportunity to connect research with industry experience and share solutions being tested for the energy systems of the future.
