The EVELIXIA project has reached an important milestone with the successful installation of its circular Building‑Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) modules at the TUCN pilot site, located at the Campus Restaurant in Cluj-Napoca (Romania).

This achievement follows an extensive development phase focused on enhancing the circularity of photovoltaic solutions. The work included the re‑lamination of micro‑PV panels and the integration of novel panel frames and junction boxes, along with the replacement of key electrical components such as diodes, plugs, and sockets. These technical improvements enable the production of custom BIPV modules that support the local reuse of photovoltaic materials and extend their lifecycle.

Before installation, the BIPV modules underwent laboratory testing to assess performance and identify the most efficient electrical configuration. This phase included a comparison between on‑grid string inverters and micro‑inverter systems, ensuring optimal operation under real‑world conditions.

With the modules now installed, the project has entered the monitoring phase, during which real‑world data will be collected to evaluate the efficiency, durability, and long‑term reliability of these circular BIPV solutions.
